Errors / Network errors
net::ERR_ABORTED
A request was cancelled, usually on purpose, by the page or the browser.
Normally none.
Why it happens
- The visitor navigated away, or the page replaced an image's source, before the request finished.
- Code called
AbortController.abort(), for example a search box cancelling the previous query. ERR_ABORTED 404in the console is different: the request was answered 404; the 404 is the problem.
How to fix it
- Alone, nothing: Broken Here leaves these out of its reports for that reason.
- With a status next to it, read the status's own page.
- To tell a harmless one from a real one, open DevTools' Network panel with Preserve log on and repeat what you did: a cancelled request next to a navigation or a new search is expected. The same request cancelled on every load, with nothing replacing it, is code aborting its own call too early, and whatever it fetched never arrives.
Whose problem it is
Either the site's own code or a third party's, depending on where it comes from.
